LONG [And Late] 🎶February🎶 TBR

Guess what I did this year? That’s right: started making my own monthly tbr shelves.

ICYMI: I set a BUNCH of goals back in December that I’m planning on sticking to for this. whole. year. Or at least the first six months. I set myself six goals total, three of which are you-absolutely-must-do-this-every-month. Which, yikes.

Let’s wrap up January!

Last Month

1. Read a series per month

In January, I did not actually finish any series. I did, however, DNF the series I was planning to read for the month, Tiny Pretty Things, so I technically DID achieve this! I also decided reading three series installments in separate series that I plan on finishing [ / am finishing] could count for this, just to make it more flexible. I technically accomplished this last month with Before the Devil Breaks You, Bright We BurnWires and Nerve Going Rogue, Binti: The Night Masquerade, and Saga Vol. 8. Only two of these are full novels, but I overall think I definitely accomplished my series goal.

2. Finish all arcs I’m DEFINITELY excited about 2 months before release

I got this done! I got every one of my Jan-Feb arcs off my shelf by the end of the month, and honestly, that’s pretty amazing based on my mental state.

Unfortunately, as you can see from my January TBR, I also ended up unhauling several of Jan-Feb arcs. The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert, The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton, and Where I Live by Brenda Rufener all got unhauled. [The Hazel Wood and The Belles due to respectively tokenism and bury your gays, I just lost interest in Where I Live]. Reign the Earth by A.C. Gaughen and Senlin Ascends by Josiah Bancroft have both been put off until further books release in the series [I own one on kindle and the other I have traded away my arc of] and The Island Will Sink by Briohny Doyle ended up on next month’s TBR because it isn’t actually a January release.

I forgive myself, though. This was a month in which I was trying to read two months worth of arcs. And I also read a bunch of new books from January and February!

3. Read as many arcs as possible right after I get them

This challenge somewhat evolved from its original goal! I did this with two arcs: Always Forever Maybe by Anica Mrose Rissi and Bright We Burn by Kiersten White. I also read The Art of Escaping by Erin Callahan, which I had been putting off for a few months. I did not read the book from my original TBR, Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake. BUT I read it only a few days.

1. Read a series per month

So far in February I have already read two opening series books of series I plan to get through this year. I only need to read three, technically. SO here are a bunch from my shelf!

2. Finish all arcs I’m DEFINITELY excited about 2 months before release

3. Read as many arcs as possible right after I get them

4. My Continued TBR

And with the ending of this very colorful post… I am done.
